Themes
- Artificial intelligence compute and accelerator ecosystem: the build-out of artificial intelligence training and agentic inference capacity is driving multi-year demand for accelerators, central processing units and the supporting compute stack, with the supply of wafers, memory and substrates acting as the binding constraint on growth.
Summary
Intel is the leading United States-based x86 processor franchise and the only Western company operating a leading-edge logic foundry. Under chief executive Lip-Bu Tan, the company has been rebuilt from a 2024 balance-sheet crisis into a server processor business that is now supply-constrained as agentic artificial intelligence workloads pull demand forward. The bull case rests on this server demand continuing to outstrip supply and on Intel Foundry landing its first major external customer for its 14A process. The bear case centres on the personal computer cycle and a cost squeeze stemming from rising memory prices.
