Ouster is the post-Velodyne survivor of the digital-lidar shakeout, now attempting to convert a margin-and-growth turnaround into a unified "Physical AI" sensing platform. The company, led by CEO and co-founder Angus Pacala, makes digital lidar and perception software for smart infrastructure, industrial automation, robotics and automotive markets. It listed via SPAC on 3 November 2021, executed a 1-for-10 reverse split alongside a merger of equals with Velodyne on 2 October 2023, and used its REV7 chip to lift average selling prices and margins. FY2024 revenue reached $111 million (up 33%) at a 36% gross margin, and FY2025 revenue rose to $169 million at a 49% gross margin, the latter boosted by a one-time roughly $21 million IP royalty. The Stereolabs camera and AI-vision acquisition closed on 2 April 2026, and Ouster launched Rev8, billed as the world's first native-colour lidar, on 5 April 2026.
